CZECH MOLDAVITE - VLTAVIN
Moldavite, known in Czech as vltavin, is a natural tektite - a meteor glass formed around 15 million years ago, when a meteorite struck what is now southern Germany and threw molten material across Bohemia and Moravia. It is found nowhere else in the world. The deposits are finite, mining is restricted, and faceted stones of even colour are getting harder to source every year.
Real moldavite is never bright emerald and never perfectly clear. It is a deep bottle green that shifts with the light, and under magnification it shows the bubbles and flow lines of glass that cooled in flight. That is how you tell it from the imitation.
OUR OWN DESIGN
This is not a wholesale model you will find in ten other shops. The design is ours - developed by A-B and produced to our specification by a Czech workshop we work with directly, made to order and exclusively for us. Every stone is selected by hand for its colour match.

NATURAL CZECH GARNET FROM BOHEMIA
The garnets around the moldavite are mined at the pyrope deposits of Bohemia and cut in Czech art workshops. Our stones come from two of the oldest gemstone factories in Europe, working to traditions several centuries old. Czech pyrope is darker and warmer than commercial garnet, and it holds its red under artificial light instead of going brown. Green and red together are the traditional Bohemian combination.
CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY
Every order includes our A-B certificate confirming the origin and nature of the stone - issued by us as the maker, with a hologram. For moldavite this matters more than for anything else we make: most of what is sold online under this name is green glass. We are asked about it often, so the certificate comes with every piece as standard, no request needed.
HALLMARKS
- 925 - sterling silver fineness mark
- A-B - our own maker's mark
Under Czech law, silver pieces below the statutory weight carry the fineness mark only; the state hallmark is struck on heavier articles. Our workshop works under the Czech Assay Office (Puncovni urad CR), and A-B is registered with the Assay Office of the Slovak Republic (Puncovy urad SR) - message us and we will send you the registry link.
Slovakia and the Czech Republic are both member states of the Vienna Hallmarking Convention, so these marks are recognised across the UK, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, Poland, the Netherlands and other member countries.
HOW TO WEAR
Light and easy to put on - they do not pull the earlobe or catch in the hair, so they work as everyday earrings or as a first pair after piercing. The green centre reads quietly against the skin in daylight and lights up under lamps. With an evening dress the cluster puts a point of colour near the face; in a business look it refreshes without breaking the code.
MATCHING PIECES AND OTHER METALS
The same cluster is also available as a ring, a pendant and a matching set. And in solid 14k gold 585. Browse the full collection in our shop.
CARE
Wipe with a soft cloth after wear. On the silver version, a silver polishing cloth restores the shine in seconds. On the gold plated version do not use alcohol or polish - plating is a surface layer and wears with abrasion. Put jewellery on after perfume and cream. Store in the original box.
